Getting Older & dumber?

Have not blog for a while... NO.... I'm not getting old & dumber, just plain lazy that's all. Was having tea with my friends & all of them are complaining they are suffering from various degrees of forgetfulness & sort of getting dumber by the minute. Here are some things everyone can do to prevent it from getting worse!
Adorable isn't? My daughter insist I post this pic.

1. Stay physical... work out through shopping whatever, as exercises triggers neurogenesis- the birth of new brain cells responsible for memory & verbal learning.

2. Ageing makes it hard for us to encode & retrieve new information, particularly arbitrary information such as people's name. What you can do is recruit help from your sense of sight. Our visual sense take sup roughly 60% of our brain area. So if we want to remember a name, turn it into a visual image & link it to person's face.

3. Slow down the decline of brain power by deviating from daily patterns whenever possible. E.g jogging backwards or brushing your teeth with the other hand. This can increase blood flow in the brain & recharge your neurological connections!

4. Studies have shown simply watching sports can boost your learning & comprehension skills. That's a new one for me, but I do like to watch NBA... they are just so good.

5. Play a game of chess to quicken your wit. It promotes mental acuity & also improves neurological colour separation skills. Even those card games like gin rummy helps I think!

Can Young Blood rejuvenate & reverse the effects of aging???

I certainly hope so. Can you imagine my excitement when I read this piece of news. This definitely deserve a slot in my blog …haha.  Ok it’s just in the research stage with mice. Apparently a protein in blood can repair age-related damage in the brains and muscles of old mice, returning them to a more youthful state. This protein, called growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF11), was found to have a restorative effect on mouse hearts. If it does a similar job in humans, it could have huge potential for treating a wide-range of age-related diseases.

Revitalised organs

In the brain study, the researchers injected 15-month-old mice – which is just over half their natural life span – with GDF11 daily for a month. The volume of the blood vessels in their brain increased by 50 per cent and the number of brain stem cells by 29 per cent. Both factors are known to improve brain function.

Muscle fibres in old mice injected with GDF11 doubled in size to match that of 2-month old mice. Images from an electron microscope show a striking reordering of muscle fibres from a disordered state to the highly regular appearance of young muscle.

In a separate study, they gave 18-month-old mice, the equivalent of mid-to-late middle age, eight injections of blood plasma taken from 3-month-old mice. Three weeks later, the brain cells of the older mice had 20 per cent more dendrites, the spines that relay messages between neurons, than mice given a placebo.
The mice performed about 50 per cent better on two standard tests of cognitive function. The studies show the old brain is plastic and can recover function, and that this can be done so simply, just by injecting 'young' blood plasma.
Next stop humans?
Scientist predicted they could have more answers with regards to humans in the next three to five years. They are already planning a human trial. They want to inject blood plasma from young, healthy donors into people with Alzheimer's disease to see if it improves their brain function.

Cheek filler - beautiful Apple cheeks

Was recommended by a few people including the famous blogger Rose to this Doctor. I used to do my procedures either in the States or Hong Kong where my husband was stationed before. Now that he's back for good, Thought I better find me a doctor that will take care of my face at a reasonable price. My poor face needs LOTS of work to keep me from looking any older!!!!! ....lol....

Went to Parsons the Orchard branch with my niece & an old buddy (naturally anyone who's an old buddy will need lots of botox & fillers as well...hahhaa....). We cramp into his room, & made so much noise, I think we frighten him...lol... Nice young man, with a superb sense of humor- definitely my cup of tea....lol....  We chat & laughed & when everyone is at ease, DR Keith began.

I go first as my niece wanted to see what to expect. I've been to many docs, in comparison Dr Keith is really pretty good. He is straightforward & funny, so the procedure seems fun also- that's good for my niece as this is her first time, the light atmosphere is very helpful for her.

Dr Keith did a combination of fillers & botox : on my forehead to get rid of the lines, crow feet , laugh lines & also my chin. He said I'm the BEST patient as I'm "very experienced" & know what I wanted!!! We laughed at that. My buddy's turn, did almost the same repair work....lol......!!!!.

My niece's  turn, Dr Keith did filler for her nose & cheeks- yes "apple cheeks" that's what I recommended. The effect is beautiful..... the girl couldn't stop smiling after that!!!! The nose filler was especially well done, not too sharp, (as that will look too unnatural) just enough to transform the look a little, that's the trick. Well done!!!!!!  The Apple cheeks made her look adorable! My buddy was so impressed that she immediately made appointment to do cheek filler next week....lol....

And of course the three of us had the Vitamin C jab to end the session- perfect!

Summary, we had a good time & will be coming back for more. Now time has once again stood still for me- I believe... I continue to look younger than all my peers - lol..!!!!!

Would you date a younger man? 10 years younger .

If you meet a guy that is 10 years younger than you, would you give him a chance ? Ok say you dont have much money, so he's definitely not after that. Plus he's a professional & making more money
than you? So what you do ?

Why? Well a friend is in this "fix" & she ask my opinion. Knowing me, I'll say "go for it". But My friend is not me, she's rather conventional. So I thought this might not suit her. I told her my concerns, & she agree.

She has been single for a long time since her divorce- no children. Having a companion would seem like a good idea. But there are things to consider. Still what's wrong with just dating right?  If the relationship goes a step further, then we talk again ....lol... That' s my advise to her.

Today would be her first date with him. I'm getting nervous :))

How to Look 10 years younger!

1. Fillers & Botox.
First book an appointment with a good doctor & go fix your face! You owe it to your self! It's best to start correcting abit at a time all along rather than waiting for substantial changes that make correction more extensively & costly. Nothing ages a person more than lines & wrinkles on the face- a dead give away!
2. Make-up!
I feel that the older I get, I look better with less make-up. However no matter how beautiful you are, you always need some make-up. It makes me feel beautiful, confident & put together. And when done right it can literally take years off!! It's all about choosing the right colors & always wear a classic look! Dont go for what's the HOT color of the season.

3. Age Spots.
Tell- tale signs of aging, & they cant be covered even by the best foundations, so get rid of them!!! For mild cases can try microdermabasion or mild chemical peels.
For more serious cases will require Whitening injection & spot corrector. I dont suggest laser as when a person ages, the skin becomes dry. And dry skin & laser treatments just dont mix very well. Creams & whitening jabs are the better choice.

4. Exfoliate Regularly
As we age, our skin cells slows down as well. THis results in rough uneven blotchy texture. Exfoliating regularly helps speed up cell turn over thus revealing a fresher looking skin.

5. Healthy Lifestyle
Dont smoke, maintain healthy weight, dont starve your body with those yo-yo diets & most of all wear sun block to protect the skin.

I'm A big Fan of Botox & Fillers

I'm a big fan because i've seen results on my own face, as well as on my peers & friends' faces. I think they are the best weapons we have in our anti-aging fight!

I've Botox injected in my forehead, around my eyes. Some fillers to lift up my cheekbones & create a more define chin.. At my age, I wouldnt look this good without the help of these treatments.

I've been doing fillers & botox for 8 years and since I've been doing them, I've not age a bit! It's amazing how much mileage you can get out of these procedures.

Anti-aging myths

My Mantra ...lol...
You didn't age overnight, so why should you anti-age overnight?

I believe anti age should be subtle.

No drastic plastic surgery.

Fully support & into light touches of fillers & botox regularly.
